LOOKING GLASS ROCK

Looking Glass Rock is located northwest of Brevard, NC in the Pisgah National Forest. This is a favorite location for rock climbers and hikers. For my trip to the Rock, we parked in a small parking area off of FR475B, which is a narrow, windy dirt road. The trail we used to get up to the Looking Glass Rock was marked with a small sign reading, "Slick Rock Falls". If you are not watching for it, you'll miss it. I went there mainly to see the falls but ended up doing the hike up to the face of Looking Glass Rock. It was interesting to talk with and watch those that came there to climb the mountain. As for Slick Rock Falls, 2008 was a fairly dry year as far as rainfall, and this waterfall was reduced to a trickle and far from being anything spectacular. The hike itself was strenuous but beautiful as you can see from my pictures.
